Aramburu Island Restoration: After the Cosco Busan oil spill of 2007, the Richardson Bay Audubon Center & Sanctuary took steps to create a sanctuary out of a seventeen acre island in Richardson Bay that was created by dredge spoils in the 1960s. Today, volunteers and staff regularly maintain the island, and it has since become home for many birds including the Black Oystercatcher.
